I’m a Veteran Unix Administrator and provide expertise in Linux server systems to UK organisations, both as a freelancer and as a company owner. I incorporated ServerBright this year to continue doing what I ❤️, which is optimising Linux for business.
I live and work in the United Kingdom, but consider myself a European citizen.
dowe.uk has been my weblog since 2007. I took a bit of a break from blogging for … well, 5-odd years. They say it’s dangerous to re-kindle an old flame… we’ll have to see about that!
Subject matter here routinely covers computing, organisational habits, optimal living, some random thoughts, observations and comment on the state of (a very few) things, such as technology, philosophy, music, media and the social landscape. I also try to maintain some external links and bookmarks, along the same areas of interest. See my links page for more information.
And occasionally I leave the desk jockeying and go somewhere – and try to remember to blog about it.
What I do
I am a full-time web developer & system administrator, with some full-stack experience on the web side, harnessing Linux-based web hosting for the past 20+ years. A few areas of focus include:
