I'm wondering whether to stick with KitKat on the phone, as it seems some things changed (e.g. S Planner) with Lollipop that perhaps didn't improve things...
Also have an S View cover on order, which I read wasn’t so good with Lollipop. We shall see how long this lasts… 😀

Steve Dowe I recommend you put on a glass screen protector with the S View...there have been reports of problems with grit particles trapped between cover and screen scratching the screen.

Note 4, by far the best device I've ever owned, purchased my first mobile device in 1989, purchased at least two devices each year since, sometimes five + devices per year..this gold variant SM-N910C (aka Note 4) is the best overall, most useful, device I have ever owned or held, and I've been around the block a few times with mobile, portable cellular devices..could have easly went with the Note 5, but a changeable, replaceable battery, SD Card slot was the clear choice for the Note 4 purchase, could have owned any device I wished, and have, for the most part, I will own the best device for me available, PERIOD..about to purchase a second Note 4..
Go directly to LP 5.1.1, bypass v5.0..if your into flashing custom ROM’s, flash Infinity v2.0, (Note 5 to Note 4 port)..you want regret it, been my daily driver for two months now, absolutely no issues, nore FC’s..

Thanks guys, interesting reading. So, I'm semi-set up on it now and replying using it.
Firstly, the OS – straight on to 5.1.1, no update needed. Seems good so far. Secondly… how, just HOW can this thing instantly make my 5″ S4 feel small??!! 😆

Steve Dowe Wait, it's a good idea to wipe your cache followed by a factory reset via your Recovery first immediately after your OS update. Backup your important internal files to your external SD first though.
